On Monday we had our last class ever for this subject. Our lecturer gave us some tips on the structure of final exam. I was so nervous because there were so much things to do and so little time for me to get them done. I hope I could go through this week with the smallest amount of emotional scars possible.
On Thursday, we had our last tutorial class with Dr. Fariza. It was a bitter sweet feeling because I really liked learning this subject with her because she gives me new perspectives on how to be a better teacher. But I was also kind of glad that this week had finally came to an end. Our video presentations and AR project were due to be shown on this day. I pulled an all-nighter with my groupmates, Zahidah and Ainul to finish these projects. I find our struggle to be a fruitful effort as we are all satisfied with what we had accomplished. The class started with the video presentations. I find the most interesting video to be Umairah's group. The video talks about the personal struggles that everyone has so abstractly. I find the messages to hit home because sometimes I feel swimming in the vast space of unknown, too tired to figure things out. I also like Amir's group's video because it was so beautifully cinematically shot. I love aesthetic shots. Then, we proceed with the AR presentation. At the end of the class, I find myself so amazed with the talent that my coursemates have in making learning a fun process for their students. They were so creative in using sources that are available to make AR and gamification a fun way to learn. I am so inspired by everyone's creativity. For my last fruit of thoughts for this subject, I hope that what I have learned throughout this journey is engraved to the deepest chamber of my heart and mind so that I can become a teacher who always challenge herself to always do better in being creative.

Web 2.0 is a term that describes the new era of world wide web. It refers to websites that emphasize user-generated contents, which makes it different from Web 1.0 which emphasizes on reading content only. In other words, Web 2.0 promotes the sense of crowd-funding, where everyone can play their part in any content that is shared online.
Web 2.0 services and technologies expand the learning options available to educators. For example, Wiki technology enables collaborative learning as users to collectively create, edit, link, and share web content. Google Docs allow the collaboration among students to do their work together without having to meet each other. Youtube is a technology that has be been up in the clouds for a few years already and has improved as the technology goes and creates a massive platform for web 2.0 in education as students now can acquire new knowledge through this site. Wikis, Blogs and similar Web 2.0 technologies provide a means for users to easily participate in the creation of new knowledge rather than consume pre-existing knowledge. These technologies also provide alternative assessment options for educators. The result is often a more engaging and collaborative teaching and learning experience. I think, as a future teacher, it is very important for me to be able to encorporate this new era of technology in my classroom, and not limit my dependence on physical teaching that includes only books and whiteboard. I should expand the horizon of my students' mind by being up to date with technology and include things they can learn from internet in my teaching. For example, instead of writing essays on the blankness of pages in notebooks, I could ask them to make a personal blog where they could share their thoughts to the world. It is very important for me to always be creative in my ways of teaching them so that they can find learning to be a fun process. This week we learned about the planning, analysis and strategy of media development. This is an important topic for us, future educators, to understand as it can help us create interesting learning materials for our students. Based on the slides notes, the planning of media development for teaching and learning consists of design, development, testing and evaluation.
The learning materials that we have developed have to have a few processes that make them more fun. The materials are active, constructive, cooperative, authentic and having a purpose. Creating fun and attractive learning materials is very important as it helps us to create a clear path for our students to learn without them getting distracted with how boring the learning session is. |
